Maryellen L. Giger, Ph.D. is Professor and Vice-Chair of Radiology for Basic Science Research at The University of Chicago. She is also Director of the CAMPEP-accredited Graduate Programs in Medical Physics and Director of the BSD Imaging Research Institute at the University. For over 25 years, she has conducted research on computer-aided diagnosis and quantitative image analysis in the areas of breast cancer, lung cancer, and bone diseases. She has also served on various NIH study sections and is a former president of the AAPM. She has more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and has mentored over 100 graduate students, residents, medical students, and undergraduate students. She is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
